During its 17th annual CPR Saturday, the San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter (San Diego, Calif.) certified 2,188 people in Adult CPR. This number breaks the previous Guinness World Record (2,152) set by the chapter in 2005 (although the record was not officially sought this year). Of those trained, 140 were taught in Spanish and an additional 119 children received Basic Aid Training and Whales Tales water safety instruction. The event, which was put on with the help of 548 volunteers, raised nearly $75,000 in financial and in-kind donations and provided more than $120,000 in free safety training to the community.
