Representatives from the American Red Cross of Central Florida (Orlando), State Emergency Management, Centers for Independent Living, Volunteer Florida and other interested agencies met in an effort to increase awareness of the assistance available to the disabled population in times of disaster. This training session is the first in a planned series of meetings around the state to develop subject matter experts in the area of surveying buildings to be used as public shelters in a disaster response and will facilitate collaboration among relief agencies.
