Briefing and Panel Discussion on DSHR Deployment

American Red Cross in Greater New York (N.Y.) Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) Coordinator Joann Galardy and a panel of experienced DSHR members discussed the DSHR deployment experience, both local and national. More than 40 people attended and told stories as diverse as the panel – from DAT Captain Arturo Guzman’s passionate speech about empowering clients to be part of their own solutions to AmeriCorps member Terra Robinson’s humorous take on the lack of privacy in a staff shelter. The recurring message was that personal fulfillment comes from meeting the needs of Red Cross clients.
